Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, has revealed if he meant to score against Brighton on Monday.

After retruning from their short trip outskde the UK, Liverpool returned to Premier League action at the Amex on Monday evening.

But has been the case since they wrapped up the title courtesy of a 5-1 win over Tottenham weeks ago, the Reds failed to take home maximum points from the league, succumbing to 3-2 loss to the Seagulls.

Liverpool started the game well, and their bright start was rewarded with nine minutes on the clock, when Harvey Elliott nudged home Conor Bradley’s cut-back.

However Brighton equalised in the 32nd minute through Yasin Ayari, who drove clear of the Red’s defensive line to equalise.

It seemed as if the encounter would enter the break level but a clever free-kick routine saw Arne Slot’s sdie restore their lead in the last minute of stoppage time.

Elliott opted to pass to Szoboszlai near the right touchline instead of delivering into the box to catch Brighton on their heels, and the No.8 proceeded to cross-cum-strike that caught Bart Verbruggen.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Szoboszlai was asked about the result and Liverpool’s performance on the night.

He said: “I cannot say we are very sad, but we didn’t come here to lose, we wanted to win.

We showed in the first 70 minutes that we wanted to get the three points and take them home.

We faced a tough Brighton team, and they deserved to win.

They looked like they wanted it more.

“It’s hard to talk about because we’ve won the league already, but we don’t come here to lose.

We gave everything against Arsenal too, and we will on Sunday because it’s the final home game and the fans deserve it.”

The Hungarian also revealed that he goal was lucky as it was meant to to cross.

“It was a cross, to be honest.
